My mother, a country girl, also started actually liking Madonna after this. No, she doesn't like her music at all cuz she doesn't listen to pop/rock but she adores this movie and absolutely LOVES Madonna in this role. She said it made her stand up and take notice of her for the first time ever.

The reason we all think she is such a bad actress is strange....she has NEVER shown us the real Madonna...she has ben acting her entire career...so not sure she is that bad...none of us know the real thing.
